- Weekend predictions: Moana likely to ride wave to another weekend win
Kraven the Hunter and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim both hit theaters this weekend, but Moana 2 and Wicked will probably ride out the storm to end up numbers one and two at the box office, with the newcomers both landing in the top five.
- Theater counts: Moana makes waves as the widest release for its third weekend
Weekend box office winner, Moana 2, firmly held onto its place atop the North American box office, repelling an onslaught of newcomers (and current challengers). The sequel collected just over $51 million over the three-day period for a 12-day total of $299 million and has since crossed the $300 million mark, currently enjoying a domestic total of $310 million. Two newcomers make their entrance this weekend prepared to challenge the reigning champ for the title.
