Everything Everywhere All At Once

If ever a movie genre reflected its namesake, look no further than this new American movie: Everything Everywhere All at Once. This new flick is, comedy, drama, martial arts, action, adventure, fantasy, science fiction, animation...deep breath... and even themes of LGBTQ social challenges, all rolled into one, it is bizarre but it works! The film is written and directed by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert and its main stars include, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon's star, Michelle Yeoh and Halloween star, Jamie Lee Curtis as her arch-nemesis. Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh) finds herself in multiple realities trying to save the day with serious consequences and decisions to make, nothing is smooth in her current life and hence the title is fitting. She has to balance her life, work cultural challenges, parenthood, and fight enemies, again all at once. For the sceptics out there, the current film market is saturated by multiverse concepts, it's tiresome, but the plot of this movie is unexpected and unique. A tad long perhaps at 2 hours and 20 minutes but considering it's actioned packed, time did fly. Fun fact: The lead role was supposed to go to Jackie Chan but was later offered to Yeoh. She is a talented actress and does the film justice. It's chaotic, fun and has some funny adult humour moments too.
