ALL OF US ARE DEAD

Episode 1 of the Korean Zombie horror series All of Us Are Dead introduces the viewer to a seemly average day at high school. The episode opens with high school student Jin-Su who is the son of the science teacher Mr Lee being bullied on a rooftop by some of his nasty peers. However, Jin-Su begins to contort and snarl before he is thrown off the rooftop and finds himself in a hospital bed. His father Mr Lee visits him in hospital and decides to finish off the job of his son's injuries by murdering him with a copy of the bible. Mr Lee seems to be keeping a secret in his science lab, a hamster infected with a virus, that a female student gets a little too close to. Whilst this is going on we are introduced to the main characters in a typical school day. Cheong-San, On-jo, and Su-hyeok will all soon have to deal with the consequences of the female student bitten by the hamster, who then goes on to bite the school nurse, who in turn begins the spread of the virus that turns the school into a buffet for the infected. Episode 1 is generally about building up the characters and relationships before the end of the episode begins to tear some of that down for the episodes to come. It’s good but it’s not till the end of the episode that the viewer begins to get gripped with a taste of what’s no doubt to come.
