Ahsoka embarks on a daunting mission to locate and eliminate Grand Admiral Thrawn, a staunch supporter of the Empire now living in exile. Through her relentless pursuit, she discovers that an ancient and enigmatic map holds the key to exposing his hidden sanctuary, she seeks the help of old friends including as her ex apprentice Sabine Wren. However other force users are hot on her trail seeking the map in the hope of reigniting war..
Disney's latest live-action series, Ahsoka, holds immense promise in its exploration of enigmatic and ethereal dimensions of the Star Wars universe. However, in the initial two episodes, there are instances where the narrative seems somewhat lackluster, primarily due to the significant amounts of screen time dedicated to acquainting viewers who may not have watched Star Wars Rebels. As well as some pacing issues, with overdrawn scenes. Surprising considering Director Dave Filoni’s previous pacey animated series, featuring stunning action sequences and energetic young characters and performances to match. However, it is regrettable that Dawson and the new actors here are unable to capture the essence of the original cast of characters, with performances a little flat throughout . Highlights though do come from an engaging performance from Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine, and Ray Stevenson as a conflicted antagonist Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati.
However the ideas infused in the first two episode , especially with the promise of exploration of other galaxies outside the already now over familiar SW one, and some good world building may give a hope to the series, and potential for continued success.
