REVIEW
Automata stars Antonio Banderas playing in a different role to ones the audience are more used to seeing him in, as an investigator named Jacq of faulty machines in a world where machines serve humanity for a better quality of human life.
Jacq goes on a journey questioning what it is to be a machine, and by consequence what it is to be human as a result.
The movie has the look and feel of Blade Runner at times, with the storytelling of I Robot.
Where I Robot is more action-based, Automata is more thought-provoking.
At times I Robot May feel like a superior film, and arguably I Robot does a better job of telling the story overall, but this film is appealing in the visuals and the narrative and is compelling to view even if it’s a tad long towards the second act of the film.
Automata is available for purchase at the time of this review from Amazon.
