Badland Hunters (Netflix 2024) review

Badland Hunters is a South Korean post apocalyptic Sci Fi action movie in which Seoul is turned into a wasteland following an Earthquake and the survivors must form communities to evade the lawless gangs and beasts that roam freely. Badland Hunters is an entertaining monster action film which subtly explores how the authorities and scientists want humanity to survive by essentially destroying their own humanity in the process, as a backdrop to close quarters combat violence. Many of the plot points of the movie aren’t fully explored and just serve as a backdrop for good guy versus bad guy hand to hand combat.  Ma Dong Seok has become a star of South Korean cinema at least since Train 2 Busan if not before, and he’s in action here as one of the main heroes of the story.  Overall the story serves as a set piece for the action, and the story takes elements of the Walking Dead and other zombie action movies and blends them together, but it’s entertaining enough.
