Extraction 2

Chris Hemsworth returns as the contract commando Tyler Rake as the daredevil hero of the original Extraction, picking up from that movie's climax, where he endured a deadly gunshot to the neck and then ominously falls into a river, leaving his fate uncertain. Back from the brink of death, and spending time in recovery and seemingly a life in retirement. Rake embarks on a dangerous mission to save a ruthless gangster's imprisoned family, his sister in law , at the behest of his ex wife. An offer he can’t refuse. However Tyler’s efforts pit him against the gangster’s menacing brother, Zurab (Tornike Gogrichiani), a powerful crime syndicate boss who throws his considerable resources, and innumerable minions. Hemsworth returns here , in much the fashion of the first film , more of a blunt instrument here, but remains a commanding presence throughout , notably in fights that require him to take on hordes of foes, such as the prison breakout, and the Train escape , demonstrating his preposterous physicality with an assortment of weapons .The action is handled well, but lacks the more emotional core between actor and young rescue victim that made the original 2020 movie so unique. More a Man on a mission this time round, joined by brother and sister operatives Nik and Yaz Khan (Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa),who make for his team players in the action stakes, and have their fair share of the action. With some scenes of Tyler's tragic past ,that attempt to fill in his back story that seem unnecessary ,and dealt better in the previous film, Extraction 2 is best when dealing with the action at hand. Which will please those fans who love old school action films.
