REVIEW
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is the third feature in the Harry Potter-related film franchise adapted from a screenplay by JK Rowling and Steve Kloves. Set in the 1930s and leading up to the Second World War, Jude Law takes the role of a younger Professor Albus Dumbledore. Eddie Redmayne returns as the forever pouting Newt Scamander. It's a magical fantasy adventure where we find the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (now played by Mads Mikkelsen), gaining notoriety and making a bid for political power. Albus Dumbledore is keen to ensure this doesn’t happen and puts together a team to stop him. Expect lots of magical moments with wands flashing and the CGI is entertaining. Otherwise, the tone of the film feels flat and lacks any charm of the Harry Potter films. The plot is all over the shop and you feel like you never quite know what is going on. In short, it feels like it’s a complex and chaotic storyline that should not have felt like a chore to watch.
