Furies is a 2023 Vietnamese prequel to Furie both are excellent martial arts flicks that combine elements of storytelling from Kill Bill and John Wick in fabulous high-kicking fashion!
So Furie was a 2019 Vietnamese martial arts flick where Hai Phuong a former outlaw turned single mother must battle her way through various adversaries in the form of human traffickers whom kidnap her daughter from their village.
Furies (2023) seems to be a barely related prequel where female vigilantes team up to clear the mean streets of 1990s Saigon from a sinister crime syndicate.
In Furies martial arts action takes spectacle and centre stage, there’s plenty of exciting action, and the tale of the female vigilantes who have been battered and beaten by men is certainly believable and relatable and seems overall watchable and well-rounded enough.
This may be a case of Charlie’s Devils rather than Angels, but it’s a very entertaining affair and honestly deserves attention if you’re a martial arts fan.
