REVIEW
‘Glass Onion’ is the second entry in Rian Johnson’s foray into the murder mystery World of Benoit Blanc who was first seen in Knive’s Out (2019).In this follow up Edward Norton is the tech giant ( Miles Bron) who has invites his old co-horts or “disruptors” to his annual Island retreat on his private island as well as home to his glass giant domed abode called the 'Glass Onion'.An ideal setting for a murder-mystery weekend. Included on the guest list is World famous detective Benoit Blanc. However as the evening unfolds, it becomes evident that some real-life murder is afoot.Don’ t be fooled by the familiar premise. Johnson quickly subverts the by the numbers murder mystery set up, to keep you truly engaged. As he plays with both perception and time, in telling this tale. Daniel Craig returns as detective from the deep south, 'Benoit Blanc'. And has properly settled in to the role this time.Writer-director Rian Johnson has also got his Agatha Christie lite comedy universe down pat. That really suits the Director’s sensibilities. What results is a fun multi layered delight perfect for the holiday season. That serves both as satire of the posposterious modern celebrity world , and the ego of tech led billionare giants that fill our headlines these days. Perfect viewing with your favourite tipple, in this multi layered delight.
