Godless

Godless is a 2017 Western series on Netflix which tells the story of Roy Goode a former protege of criminal Frank Griffin and his gang who are all on his tail to get revenge. Frank wants revenge for Roy betraying them and turning anti-hero of sorts. Roy seeks refuge in the mining town La Belle, where he meets Alice Fletcher, a hardened widower and outcast. When word reaches La Belle a town of mainly women that Griffin is headed there, the residents of the town band together to defend against his murderous gang. Episodes that were of particular highlight included episode 2 - The Ladies Of La Belle, where the ladies barter for protection from Frank Griffin and his gang, episode 3 -Wisdom Of The Horse showing the charming development of a father son like bond between Roy and young Truckee, and Episode 7 - Homecoming which leads to the big showdown. Jeff Bridges is wonderful as villain Frank Griffin, who IS complex and switches from moral to amoral in the blink of an eye. All the cast is really solid, the plot moves along at a decent pace and really develops well, and the character interaction is well done. So many different aspects of the West get some screen time, and it will no doubt leave the viewer wanting more.
