Sometimes,a performance and a character marriage, just makes a screen hero work, right from the bat. While Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark was an instant hit right from the first Iron Man, (with a grandstanding rapid-fire comic wit and flare). So here, more than a decade down the line of the modern MCU.We now have one one of the most equally intriguing partnerships of an actor in Oscar Issacs and a Marvel Character brought to the screen, namely in MoonKnight . Displaying a complete flip with regards to performance style compared to Downey’s turn, here we have a softly spoken and brow beaten London Museum Gift shop, named : Steven Grant. Oscar's accent may just key a bit off to true a Londoners ears, but you’ll forgive that instantly as we inhabit his portrayal of an unassuming, urbanite's little world. Living alone , flat sharing with pet Goldfish, inbetween , bad timekeeping and checking in with his mother on a regular basis. At least that is who he is ,( as far as he is )concerned by day. By night, he is plagued by a Sleepwalking Dissociative Disorder, but on a Globe-Trotting Scale. As we find, Steven shares his body with a treasure stealing Mercenary/Vigilante 'Marc Spector' as well as an Egyptian supernatural powered entity ,namely MoonKnight .Much mileage is got out of this Episode as a panicked Steven suddenly wakes up in the middle of bewildering, and often violent situations, and dealing in the consequences. In fact, it is those periods that are the highlight of the episodes where Issac’s lends a anxious and jumpy comedic performance to proceedings. Also Lending a hand to proceedings, is the arch Villian- 'Arthur Harrow' in this Episode ,played by Ethan Hawke, as a Cult leader with seemingly some mass form of World judgement plan afoot, played out with calm unnerving subtle conviction, serving a s great a counterpoint to our nervous hero in Steven ,and plays out well when Issacs and Hawke are on screen together. Things then get even more stranger towards the end,as we are introduced to the the more supernatural elements to this adventures lore. The actions scenes are good as you expect from a Marvel series staple, but a little more brutal, and from from the viewpoint of a traumatised Steven, quite vivid. For the most part, it is light and fun, and funny most importantly intriguing, a rare thing in a very saturated Marvel television market now days
