REVIEW
Mothers Day on Netflix is a 2023 Polish action film that’s essentially a female led Taken. Nina the main character is a woman with a mysterious military background who is more than capable of handling herself and any trouble that comes her way when the film starts and she stands upto some men harassing two young girls. The film then essentially becomes very similar to Taken, in that Nina’s biological son is kidnapped on his 17th birthday by people taking revenge on Nina. She has a particular skill set which she puts to good use in finding and killing anyone who gets in her way or intends harm on her son. It’s a film where we follow main character Nina on her action packed adventure and almost experience the bone breaking earth shattering punches with her. Perhaps some of the intrigue of the film such as the mysterious military past of Nina and her connections also serve as its downfall as they disconnect the viewer from her in that respect. However the characters are watchable, and even if they could be fleshed out more, they are certainly worthy viewing. The main villain is almost comic book level crazy, and is akin to someone Batman might look up in Arkum Asylum, but Nina is able to handle anything thrown at her. Sit back and engage in the orgy of violence and action in the name of paternal love.
