Nimona (2023)

Nimona is a 2023 Netflix animation set in a modernised medieval world where a soon to be Knight Ballister Boldheart (voiced by Riz Ahmed) is framed for a crime he didn’t commit against the Monarchy and he encounters Nimona a shapeshifting teen girl (voiced by Chloe Grace Moretz) who can help him clear his name as the lines between heroes and monsters blur. The animation and character development in this animated tale are excellent and so engaging, Nimona is a very compelling animated adventure that would be right at home during holiday viewing. Nimona is an animated film that can appeal to all ages with its clever mix of modern storytelling and themes in an old world setting. Perhaps it’s few flaws are that Nimona as a character herself has a lot going on and this tends to overcrowd the story a little in the second half of the film, but it’s truly an enjoyable experience overall.
