REVIEW
You can never please everyone , all of the time. It has been one of the take home messages from this series . Obi-wan Kenobi the 6 part series concluded this week . The final episode did deliver on what the series was sold on , the penultimate confrontation between Obi Wan and Vader.Serving as both an emotional coming to terms with the fate of his old padawan, as well as dramatic display of Obi-Wan once again in his prime, which come to full fruition in this final episode. .However the series does suffer from what really is a 2hr concept movie spread over 6 hrs that makes for some odd pacing. But with enough flashbacks to earlier eras, and a good assortment of new characters,as well as fan favourite cameos, along his journey, makes it a zippy enough show. What does not serve the series so well are some logic beats during the series that seemed to almost derail the narrative completely, when the emotional beats are over. Ships that seems to evade , shots from a Star destroyer, Character U-turns so Sharp that will give the viewer whiplash.Or characters at the mercy of foes, that are spared last minute, and left to escape over and over again ,make for unforgivable viewing that have some of the fandom scratching their head in disbelief, and maybe one logic leap too many. But this was always going to be a series , where you would have to leave your critical thinking at the door. Ewan Mcgregor is excellent throughout, his arc as broken warrior, removed from life. Re-awoken and confronting his painful past choices , and acceptance is really at he core of this series.Which makes their final series confrontation worth the watch, when finally face to face.Highlights of the series are flashbacks of Obi Wan with his Padwan (again played by Hayden Christensen ) in episode. As well as a good Physical representation of Vader himself that does the character enough justice. Reva (Third Sister) Inquisitor (played by Moses Ingram) gets a lot of series screen time, and serves as instigator over much of the series arc.But burdened with a predictable plot redeeming character arc, as well muddy character motivations, doesn't really win the audience over when her final redemption arrives.
However, the final confrontation in the final episode(when it does arrive), for the mainstay characters, offers an emotional confrontation between master and old friend that should satisfy fans of the series, as well as thrown in Force Ghost cameo that will make fans happy.
