REVIEW
Queen Of Glory is the directorial debut for writer/director/star Nana Mensah. When working Doctoral Scientist Sarah’s mother dies suddenly, Sarah’s life plans take a left turn as she inherits her Ghanaian Mother’s Christian bookshop. As an atheist scientist, she’s ready to sell up as soon as possible, to pursue a new life with a married lover to Ohio. But as she gets acquainted with the characters that work and uses her Mother's Store, it makes her question her life choices, and gives her a chance to reconnect with both her culture and local neighbourhood. It makes for a lovely budget indie movie. Showcasing some great character actors, that shine through. Highlights are(a tattoo-faced ex-con 'Pitt', the lone employee of her bookstore, played by Meeko Gattuso, as well as estranged father to Sarah, Godwin (Oberon K.A. Adjepong). The film manages to avoid what would be stock clichés characters , and Director Mensha keeps things low-key enough to avoid these pitfalls, making for a short charming low-key comedy.
