REVIEW
Resident Evil: Welcome To Racoon City is a 2021 film which takes inspiration from the Resident Evil video game series of the same name.
The film is certainly faithful to the source material which is a blend of the first and second Resident Evil games.
However one mistake the film makes is introducing familiar main characters from the games but they don’t have any of the traits and characteristics that the viewer would expect them to have.
In this way the film is an odd mix of familiar yet inaccurate.
Having said that the film is watchable as a B movie horror flick, and the settings are familiar enough to give the viewer Resident Evil vibes.
A group of survivors including Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine and Albert Wesker must survive a zombie outbreak in Racoon City which the Umbrella corporation has orchestrated.
Horror movies should sometimes be cheesy and in this way Resident Evil Welcome To Racoon City succeeds in paying homage to the video games inspired by just such movies
