REVIEW
Rock The Kasbah stars Bill Murray as a fading manager of music talent who takes his last remaining act to Afghanistan to sing for the troops. Fate has other plans, and a young village Afghan girl with a wonderful voice is his salvation, if only he can stay alive and out of trouble long enough to make a miracle happen. This film has heart, and it’s entertaining, it’s not a classic or Bill Murray at his best, but it’s decent and likeable. The film is adapted from a documentary called Afghan Star about a courageous young Afghan woman who risked so much to sing. Critics didn’t take to this one, but respectfully, even they can get it wrong sometimes. Enjoy a tale of rising talent through unconventional means when there are bumps in the road at many turns, and yet somehow progress and opportunity find a way.
