The new sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) returns to our cinema screens this weekend. This time with even more fantastic action scenes, a quirky storyline and inclusive of the classic characters from the Sega video games franchise. It’s a sequel that packs a serious Knuckles punch…or perhaps a Sonic-spin! This action-adventure comedy is directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington. Ben Schwartz returns as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog. Heartthrob James Marsden is also back as Sonic’s dorky but loyal and entertaining sidekick, this time donning some trendy pink shorts. Robotnik is back with vengeance and on a new mission to obtain ultimate power with a new frenemy sidekick. With new friends and foes choosing their battle lines and magical combat scenes, a strong film script and comical gags throughout, you won’t be checking your phones during this gem of a film. For the 90s teenagers, there are epic moments of nostalgia, not just for characters but also from the locations reflecting the Sega game ‘levels’. This 90s classics video game to movie adaption is near faultless and highly entertaining for millennial born adults now, modern-day teenagers, and generally the whole family. Spin-tastic!!!
