The Last Vermeer

The Last Vermeer is a 2019 starring Guy Pierce as Han Van Meegeren, a Dutch artist whom is accused of selling works of the artist Vermeer to the Nazis during wartime. In the post Second World War, he is questioned by the allies in charge of reclaiming works of art that were in possession of the Nazis. Han Van Meegeren holds information that may in fact hold the key to his freedom. It’s excellent and really engaging and takes an alternative take on the post Second World War recovery efforts and an individual who was key to this process. It is a captivating watch, to see Guy Pierce’s Han Van Meegeren talk his way out of the guilty fingers pointed in his direction.
