REVIEW
The Lost Daughter is a 2021 film on Netflix starring Olivia Colman as a college professor Leda who whilst on holiday in Greece is still wrestling with memories of her youth as a young mother of two. These memories are brought to the surface by a young girl and her daughter also on holiday there with their brash relatives. This film expertly delivers emotional turmoil in a paradise Mediterranean setting. It’s ultimately a story of the cost of the choices the characters make. The viewer simply goes on the journey with the main character, rather than judging their actions. It’s a confident directorial debut from Maggie Gyllenhaal.
