REVIEW
There is a sense that this film seems consciously aware (like some 'sentient entity') of its own set of problems. There is very much the constant running theme of duality, identity and it's a constant struggle with it. It's a film that wants to be both a meta-comedy short film, on modern reboots and franchise sequels, as well as 'A Matrix movie.' That boat has long sailed, as demonstrated in the previous sequels. Instead, it reaches a comfortable averageness, pit stopping constantly down memory lane, and in doing so, reminds us how you can really never recapture pop culture zeitgeist, only reminding us of 'a simpler time' in the modern cinema-scape. It's an impossible task. There are moments, to be sure, hinting at new concepts of the lore it could explore, that could prove to be interesting, you get the impression there are pressures for a new trilogy again, but the box office numbers seem to indicate it's time to put this franchise to sleep.
