Thor :Love & ThunderTHEATRE RELEASE
REVIEW
Thor: Love and Thunder brings. Director Taika Waititi is back at the helm following 2017's the bright and entertaining Thor: Ragnarok, with Chris Hemsworth's Asgardian/ Avenger in the role again. Also in the mix is Natalie Portman as ex-girlfirend Jane Foster, who finds herself the holder of the mighty Mjolnir, and now cross paths with Thor as well as possibly rekindles their old romance,on this latest adventure. Our heroes now find themselves on a mission to stop Gorr the God Butcher. Seeking to wipe out, all gods across the Universe. It's bright ,funny , moving in places, but at a breakneck pace and with a very light tone ,doesn't serve the darker character elelments and arcs aforded to it.Which leaves it a much more of a lightweight bubble gum affair.Despite an onimous villian in Christian Bale's 'The God Butcher' who delivers some great performances when the camera has a chance to land on him. However, there really doesn't feel enough of a threat or peril to our heroes, as the emphasis really is on fun and adventure in this movie, and a pace and running time doesn't lend itself to explore points of tension between the characters, and not much room for introspection. The highlights are the interplay between Thor and Foster, and a scene-stealing turn from Russell Crowe , as a hedonistic 'Zeus' offers some comedic highs.Although it might leave some fans yearning for the more wieghty aspects to the 'Thor' Lore and its universe,it's a fun Summer movie nonetheless in which you (and especially kids) can genuinely enjoy and forget about, when you leave the theatre.
