REVIEW
The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent stars Nicholas Cage as himself in the title role in a action comedy about the actor paying off debts by attending a wealthy fan’s birthday party in Spain and recruited by the CIA for a mission in the process.
What works in the film is Nick Cage poking fun at himself, either with the amount of questionable films he makes, or his eccentric behaviour.
Pedro Pascal is also great as an adoring fan whom meets his idol, and the two embark on an adventure together.
It’s not perfect, the CIA mission parts are not quite as good as Nick Cage making fun of himself, and the trailer does portray a better film that the film itself ends up being, but when this film plays up to Nick being an eccentric actor it really works.
John Travolta could definitely benefit from making a film of this nature about himself as could Christopher Walken, but for now it’s pleasing to see that Nick Cage said yes to some wonderful meta fun.
