Weekend projections: The Little Mermaid doing swimmingly Stateside, choppier in international waters

The Little Mermaid will land almost exactly in line with our model’s Friday morning prediction, according to Walt Disney Pictures. With $95.5 million projected for the 3-day weekend and $118 million over four days, the film will most likely have the fifth-best Memorial Day opening, a little ahead of Aladdin, which opened with $91.5 million in three days, and $116.8 million over four days in 2019. Internationally, the film is doing less well, with Disney projecting $68 million this weekend.
