X is an American horror mystery film which is directed and produced by Ti West. The film stars, Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega (Scream 2022), Brittany Snow, Scott Mescudi, a.k.a Kid Cudi, and Martin Henderson. Set in the 1970s, it follows a group of upbeat fun loving adult content filmmakers who set off to rural Texas to shoot their X rated film. Matters take a turn for the worse when their elderly hosts start to display idiosyncratic personalities. This then leads to a devastating set of events that is filled with blood, gory violence and mayhem. It is refreshing to see a horror film that stays true to its genre. With creepy suspensive scenes and jumping from your seat moments, this horror flick doesn't fail to deliver. The clichés are frequent but the acting feels authentic, and this helps when the storyline lacks originality. Overall, this is an enjoyable horror movie with a good build-up, chilling moments and a dash of dark humour. Most of all it will keep you guessing right to the end: ‘what next?’
