REVIEW
Zombieverse is a South Korean survival variety show of sorts, where the cast believe they are attending the filming of a dating show only for a Zombie apocalypse to break out during filming.
Episode 1 is particularly interesting to see the Zombie outbreak, and how the characters will react and if they think the situation is real.
The show then evolves into a task based immersion show, where it’s clear by Episode 3 as they plan an escape the characters are more taking part in the spirit of things rather than believing the situation.
Zombieverse is fun if a bit messy and unclear to the viewer what the scenario is that’s playing out.
At times it feels the characters are invested in the Zombie apocalypse scenario, and in other moments they break character.
Two standout characters are Park Na Rae and Noh- Hong Chul and in fact Zombieverse is more about an examination of the human condition with the Zombies playing second fiddle to this.
Zombieverse could benefit from choosing to be either a reality tv show or a fictional zombie apocalypse series but it’s a little of both and at the same time not fully either one making it a little average if fun viewing.
