In “A Private Life,” a spiraling psychotherapist, Dr. Lilian Steiner, played by Jodie Foster, navigates the stylish streets of Paris while investigating the mysterious death of a patient, Paula (Virginie Efira). Unlike the typical portrayal of therapists in film, this dramedy showcases their journey as the main characters. Directed by Rebecca Zlotowski, known for her previous work “Other People’s Children,” the film gives deep insight into Lilian’s struggles as a Jewish therapist dealing with the pressures of her profession and neighborhood gossip.
