Coyote vs. Acme Review – ‘An amusing, creative, and whimsical comedy’

In Coyote Vs. Acme, Wile E. Coyote, frustrated by repeated failures to catch the Road Runner using malfunctioning ACME products, decides to sue the giant corporation for negligence. Initially set for a 2023 release by Warner Bros., the film faced numerous obstacles before finding a new distributor. However, it ultimately delivers a chaotic comedy experience.

For over 75 years, Wile E. has used fantastical gadgets to pursue the Road Runner, only to face humorous disasters. This time, he recruits a hapless lawyer, Kevin Avery (played by Will Forte), who prefers quick settlements over persistent legal battles. Their contrasting approaches form a classic mismatched-buddy dynamic.

Director Dave Green and writer Samy Burch masterfully balance the film’s absurdity, reminiscent of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The narrative embraces the coexistence of cartoon characters and the real world, filled with outlandish villains and whimsical schemes. Forte plays the straight man to Wile E.’s frantic antics, creating an engaging chemistry.

Fans of Looney Tunes will enjoy spotting numerous Easter eggs and references throughout the film, though some may find the abundance of nods confusing. The film maintains the comedic rhythm of traditional Looney Tunes shorts, delivering 100 minutes of daffy joy. Overall, Coyote Vs. Acme proves to be a delightful, inventive comedy that evokes affection for its classic roots, leaving audiences feeling like the real winners.
