The Covenant review (Amazon Prime 2023)

The Guy Ritchie action thriller which departs from the usual storytelling of British Gangster films that Guy Ritchie is well known for.

REVIEW
It follows Jake Gyllenhaal as US special army ops sergeant John Kinley and Dar Salim as his Afghan interpreter whom risks his life to save John Kinley over miles of gruelling terrain controlled by the Taliban. It’s a film which is compelling, mysterious at times, has great complex characters and blends action and suspense to keep the viewer fully engaged. The characters have depth, authenticity and chemistry which makes the situations they are in feel genuine and believable. This is a film which at its heart is about doing what’s right against all odds and teamwork and comradeship, and truly never leaving anyone behind. The positives of this film far outweigh anything negative and it’s worth repeat viewing.
